Tag!
New tags.  And new tags.  Cuz I'm bored at work and decided I needed to do some sorting of my LJ.

So, if you will take your gaze to your right, you shall see:

awesome - vague tag that will be attached to things that I find to be awesome (or, as Michael Bay would say, AWESOME)

books - because seriously?  I had a tag for movies and games but didn't have a book tag before?

dollhouse - pretty self-explanatory.  Here's hoping I'll be able to use it a month from now, though.

politics - gonna be tiny, cuz I try my best to avoid it here, but it might get some play every now and then.

world of booze - cuz if I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna do it RIGHT.

I normally don't point to international politics, but this is too much:

GENEVA – A day after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad caused an uproar with a speech attacking Israel at a U.N. conference on racism, the U.N. said Tuesday that Ahmadinejad had actually dropped language from the speech that described the Holocaust as "ambiguous and dubious."

And you just KNOW that Ahmadinejad was expecting a pat on the back after he made that correction.  "But...  But...  But I'm being politicially sensitive!  I'm changing!  I'm a nice guy now!  Hey, don't leave!"

It's just lovely to know that Iran and North Korea, two of the biggest threats to global stability, are being run by such blithering idiots.

Which reminds me: 6 Reasons North Korea is the Funniest Evil Dictatorship Ever

Okay, this is going to be a strange question, but I seriously don't know where else to ask...  well, I could dig some more, but I'm out of here in five minutes and I'm antsy.

Also, vague spoiler alert for people who haven't read the last chapters of AtF2 yet:

So if a crime is committed against someone in a foreign country, how much of the criminal investigation is placed on the foreign country and how much is placed on the home country?  Say, for example, someone from the US gets attacked in a country in Europe.  Do the American authorities have any say in the investigation?

Dumb question, yeah, but I don't want to get too far into this chapter without discovering that Everything You Know Is Wrong.

On the phone with one of our customer service reps:

Rep: "I was looking for some information since I'm still a little retarded with our system. Oops, I just pulled an Obama, sorry."

Really? That little Special Olympics comment has reached catchphrase/in-joke already?

Huh.

DNA proves that all of the Romanov children were killed during the revolution. Maria, Anastasia, and Alexei never escaped, despite the claims and the urban legends that have developed over the years.

That pretty much bites.

Wow, my server at work REALLY doesn't like LiveJournal, for some reason.

Ah, well, I can still post. Kinda.

I finished a book on Ivan the Terrible this morning.

What have I learned?

People in the 1500's were BATSHIT INSANE.

What's scary is that there are still tons of societies today that think the same way as they did in 1500's Russia.

Scott Pilgrim cast fills out with ex-boyfriends, bandmembers, and Young Neil.

Damn, this is going to be fun.

Oh, yeah, and I should probably say something about the inaug.  Pretty much what I expected.  And I'll be honest, I'm cautiously optimistic about the next four years.  There are a LOT of things I disagree with with this administration, but I'm willing to be proven wrong.  And of all of the people whose political leanings are different than mine, they could to a lot worse than Obama.

Also, I'm very curious to see how his supporters react when he screws up.  And he will.  He's the president, he won't do everything right.  None do.  So we'll see how he rolls with the punches.

Let's go.

Hokay, so I'm at work, trying to find a decent site to stream the inauguration.  I've already found that CNN's video is blocked by my company, MSNBC's not loading, and NPR doesn't have anything.  The local sites, surprisingly, are streaming, as well, but they're guaranteed to be unreliable at best.

Anyone have any sites to suggest that won't be hyper-popular and probably won't be blocked by a company netfilter?   Or am I just going to have to try the radio?  My best thought is PBS.org, but they're not starting their stream until 10 CST so I have no clue how it's gonna be until it's probably too late.

EDIT: Better late than never, I found a great stream on CNBC.com.  Figured it wouldn't be nearly as popular since it's a financial site.  There wasn't any commentary, which was fine, and it ran off windows media player so it was REALLY smooth.  I'm gonna keep it running all day just to watch everything else.
