Okay...

I REALLY don't want to sound like a whining fanboy when I start talking about this movie.  Because I'm not.  Anything I say will make it sound worse than it was.  Cuz I did enjoy it.  Just not as much as the first time I watched the first one.

So I'm gonna go with this for now, and I'm gonna try to keep it brief.  I might open up a bit more later, but it's almost 11 and I'm tired.

Transformers 2 Spoilers Ahoy! )

"The premise is that two groups of 'robots' evolve on a faraway planet and start an eons long war for control of same. This knocks the planet from its orbit and sends it spinning through our solar system (!) The goodguy robots send an expedition out to punch a path through the asteroid belt, where they are ambushed by the badguy robots and all end up crashing into Earth and being suspended for ages in a volcano. Then they wake up and start the battle again."

Before the toys, before the cartoon, before everything...

The first Transformers comic book was released in the US on May 8th, 1984.  The toyline came later, and the cartoon first aired in September.

So today is the 25th birthday of Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, and the rest.

Feel old, everybody!

Anyone ever wanted to buy a Transformer, but didn't wanna spend a lot of money?

Holy fark.

Target has a sale going where you can buy one of their $25 sets for $5.  It's two different two-packs of repaints & Activators.  I bought both packs this afternoon, and I know that I'm never gonna find a deal like that on any TFs ever again.

Go for it if you wanna.

Two Transformers movie posts in a day?  Looks like it.

If anyone's interested, they did a big public reveal at the Chicago Auto Show of vehicles in the new movie.  Most of them are pretty underwhelming, with most of the new vehicles turning out as tiny tiny cars.

But for Sideswipe they're using a Concept Corvette Stingray, and I'm still trying to pick my jaw off the floor.

Its probably the shiny that's doing it, but DAMN, that's a nice looking vehicle.

Spoiler Alert:

Pictures released of The Fallen and Devastator from TF2.

For those completely unfamiliar with Transformers, Devastator is a Combiner.  That means that he's made of, um, seven other robots?  In other words, FARKING HUGE.

Lets put it this way, did you see the Super Bowl trailer?  See the robot that tore up that bridge at the end?  That's just a piece of this guy.

Alright, we're getting to the end of my "small" collections, at least the ones that I'm photographing at this time.  There are a few series that you won't be seeing this time around (Animated, Classics 2.0, Marvel Crossovers, Robot Heroes) since they're still active and I don't feel like taking the incomplete series pic now then taking new ones in a few months.

After this chunk we'll be getting big: Armada, Energon, Cybertron, etc.  Series that I have SO MANY toys from that I had to divide them up in order to even stuff half of them into one frame.

But in the meantime, here we go.

RiD, Attacktix, and Classics 1.0 )

Alright, finally got the new chunk uploaded and have enough breathing room to get them posted.  There are more to come.  Obviously.

So here we go.

Wanna see my Transformers collection?

A new icon, altered from Shortpacked.

Its an in-joke layered on an in-joke, but it's still awesome.

Finished up watching Season 1 of Transformers Animated (which is fantastic, definitely the least cheese of all the TF series by far) while continuing to sort my toys.

Spent the last half hour or so tearing down my Universe Devastator, which is a Target exclusive repaint of the RiD team.  I've had him in gestalt mode since pretty much the moment I took the four 'Cons out of the box, and I have to say that I wish I had torn him apart sooner.  As much as he wasn't taking up shelf space in his giant robot mode I'm loving these smaller robots.  Which is saying something considering how much the vast majority of RiD is shit.

Hightower's my favorite, but Bonecrusher's a close second.  He's just so tiny, but he makes the head!

I also retransformed my Universe Blastcharge back to robot mode (guess which series I'm going to take photos of first?).  He's originally from the Beast Machines line, which means he sucks.  But, hey, he looked pretty in the picture when I bought him.  You know, before I realized that the three inch cannon sticking out of his chest doesn't fold down.  Good lord, he has missiles for breasts.  Long, pointy missile breasts.

Anyway, with these five, plus my Nemesis Prime, are first on my list to take pictures of, since they're the smallest bunch.  Good lord, I am NOT looking forward to having to deal with NP.  Stupid Beast Wars shellbots...  Why must you be so irritating to transform correctly?

So, TF2 comes out this summer.  We toy nerds have been waiting to see the first signs of figures from the new movie.

For a while, we only had one: this Soundwave figure that's most likely a Cybertronian Preview figure, a la Starscream and Optimus from TF1.

But in the last day or two?  Wow.

We have a weird car.  We have a truck with a nasty robot mode.  We have a really nice-looking motorcycle.  We have a forklift.

And from a little further back we have a compare-and-contrast Bumblebee, and new sketches for Megatron and Ravage.

Oh.  Um. Spoilers?

Yes, you heard me right.  That post I posted a few weeks ago turned out to be accurate after all.

Wanna see Mickey Mouse as Optimus Prime?  Here's the unpainted model.

I'm really curious to see if this is a one-shot thing or if they're planning on making more.  And will they be sticking to mainline Disney cartoon, or will they off-shoot into movie characters like they did with Kingdom Hearts.

And are they going to keep with the theme of "dressing up" Disney characters as Transformers, or will they be unique?  Are we looking at Donald Duck Bumblebee?  Goofy Jazz?  Chip & Dale Minicons?

Either way, I still have no idea how I feel about this.  Looks a bit too much like a shellbot, if you ask me.

Oh, also, for those with deeper pockets than me, behold the $130 Grimlock.  Holy shit.

So, okay, Transformers Crossovers...

A few years ago Transformers started releasing Star Wars vehicles that turned into robots.  I could get that.

A few months ago Transformers started releasing Marvel Comics characters that turned into vehicles.  I could understand it.

But...  But...

This just has to be some freakish rumor, right?  Is there a Japanese equivalent to April Fools?

And, seriously?  I have no idea if my terror is going to keep me from buying any of these things if they're for real.

I wanna try my best to do a little writeup on all of the figs I get in the Animated line.  Because they are awesome.

Pictures, again, are all courtesy of TFW2005.com's gallery, since I still haven't figured out my camera.
